How to melt chocolate on the hob: Melting chocolate on the hob is the best way to ensure that your chocolate doesn’t get burned. However, it is incredibly important to ensure that your chocolate never comes in contact with the hot water you’ll be using, as this might result in your chocolate becoming grainy or clumpy. Follow this guide to get beautifully melted chocolate, perfect for your strawberries!
Fill a saucepan with a few inches of water and place this over your hob at a medium heat. Let the water simmer.
Choose your favourite heatproof bowl and ensure that this fits neatly over your saucepan - there should be no way in which water could end up touching your chocolate!
Lower the heat of the water in your saucepan. It’s important that the water isn’t too hot as this may burn your chocolate.
Add your chocolate in small chunks to your bowl. Let it melt for approximately 4-5 minutes whilst stirring regularly.
Carefully remove the saucepan from the hob and let the chocolate cool down a little before using it.
How to melt chocolate in the microwave: When melting chocolate in the microwave, being vigilant is incredibly important as it’s very easy to accidentally burn your chocolate. Follow the instructions below to get the best results.
Pick the best heatproof bowl you’ve got and put your chopped chocolate in it.
Microwave the chocolate for only 20 seconds. Then take out the chocolate and stir it. Keep cooking the chocolate and checking and stirring it every 5 seconds until all the chocolate has melted.
